Speedometer not working....GSXR 750 SRAD?

Hi, My speedo has now stopped working. Before this the needle was behaving erratically, reading 20mph when doing 60mph for example and then it would shoot up then go back down again but now its stopped working all together. Does this sound like I need to replace the speedo cable or the speedo sensor? Cheers for all relevant answers.
